About

The 1938 Co.

Hey — Addison here. I started The 1938 Co. with a simple goal: to build furniture the right way. Solid hardwood. Timeless craftsmanship. No shortcuts.

Like many people, my story began after buying a house and realizing we didn’t have much left over to furnish it. So, I built our first table in the garage. What began as a necessity turned into a lifelong passion — and eventually, a business.

At The 1938 Co., we build what we call generational furniture — custom, handcrafted pieces made with old-school joinery, sustainable hardwoods, and attention to detail that honors the past and lasts for the future. These are pieces designed to live with your family for decades, maybe even centuries.

My love for building started early. My grandfather Troy — “Papa” to us — had a garage full of tools and a wild willingness to let me and my brothers hammer, saw, and build before we probably should have. He passed on more than just woodworking skills — he passed on a passion. You’ll still see his name etched on tools around the shop.

I named this company after him. Papa was born in 1938, and everything we build carries that legacy forward — of doing things with integrity, craftsmanship, and heart.

So whether it’s your dining table, coffee table, or a custom piece just for you — it’s more than furniture. It’s part of your family’s story.
